Saw Primers in Stock today

We may see some import primers join the market one of these days, if the world don't erupt in to 3rd world war.
A lot of overseas ammo makers use the boxer primers, and if they see a market here, they may send some of their products here.
I remember at least two from the 80's that were being imported, and they were not from Russia either.
If I can get a good source from across the Pond, I will not buy again from the Monopoly source that is in the drivers seat now.
Having one company that is in charge of almost all of the domestic ammo and component production was bound to bite us where we sit down eventually.
3 Years ago my LGS had all the primes you wanted for $35.00 per 1000. They were a small volume shop too.
Yes, everything has increased since then, but most things have not saw the increase that primers have. I think the above post is correct, the supplier with the monopoly is taking advantage of us.
Time will tell, and for now I dont have to shop for them, so I will wait and see.

I'm getting pretty low on them myself and the only place I see them available they are over $200 after hazmat. I'm not that desperate. Yet. I would grab a brick immediately if I could find them for $100.

I've never used them so never thought about buying any. I didn't think I would ever need any. Lately I've been eyeballing a new 45-70 and thought having primers would be a good idea before I purchased one.

They'll come around eventually, like everything else I suppose. In the mean time I have plenty of other primers, all bought below $40/1000.

Recession is going to drop the prices of firearms so there's a silver lining here.

I'd probably buy them if I saw them, which I believe is the whole point of this so called shortage. Hold them off the shelves until you can charge triple what you used to. I have no doubt their expenses have gone up, but not 2.5 times.

Not such a great time to be a shooter, is it?

I know what you mean; but
I beg to disagree. Anytime is a great time to be a shooter !!!

Yes. Prices have gone up on pretty much everything, but not at the level primers have. Their is no doubt the manufacturers are laughing at us as they go to the bank. I said back in 2020 that I was expecting to pay more for primers, and was accepting that fact, but my local shop hasn't had ONE box of primers on his shelf since this began. If they were available and going for even $80, that would be a good sign, but every post on this topic mentions the big shops and Brownell's, never Joe's Gun's.

Have bought, no affiliation.
I wanted some 7 1/2s and its the only place that sells in cases
Buy once, cry once. Its a lifetime supply for me, so price isn't that important for me. They actually have come down 50.00 since I bought

I was passing by Dublin, CA, so I stopped by G.F.O.S. Saw a few boxes of CCI LPP, 1 box of LMPP, and 1 box of LMRPs. They were marked $100 for regular and $130 for magnums. I was encouraged, then tempted, but I passed since I still have a few thousand in stock. This store tends to be on the high side of retail, so I am encouraged that other stores may receive some soon, for less.

Being an x-Ca person, I have to ask.

"In the Dublin area"......
does that mean that you were on a "Green Olive Run" ?? :D

found LPP today for $100, turn them down, funny how the LGS that does not like gouging and sells for the best price they can never gets them any more but somehow people selling them for 100++ get them often.

I'm hoping to see powders settle down to right around $30/lb. I would be OK with that.

As for primers, I know we will never see $20/k to $30/k ever again but $40/k wouldn't be all that bad with a limit of $45/k.

At one time I was buying CCI and Winchester primers for around $85/5k when you bought the 5k. I went to a show back then and a dealer was offering 5k primer lots @$75/k. I bought 20k that day and now I wish I would have bought 50k but hindsight is 20/20 as they say.

I would be perfectly fine with $30/lb powder and $40/k primers but that is only a dream I'm thinking.

Large rifle primers are without a doubt the hardest ones to find. I hadn't been to my favorite LGS in a while because I didn't need anything but large rifle primers and these days they never have much if any primers in stock. But I figured it couldn't hurt to ask, and I'm glad I did.

At first he said he didn't have any LRP's but then he said he had a few magnum large rifle primers. I asked what my limit was and he said he only had 3 trays but I could have them all at $10.99 per tray, so I bought them.

I only have one rifle that uses the large primers and I don't load near max charges so I have no reservations about using magnum primers.

I think $10/100 is going to be the price now. Places that advertise prices lower than that never have any, so the lower price is meaningless.

If they sit on the shelf at $100, then the price will drift down until they sell.

I can see @ $65/1K as being OK, maybe $60 would be tolerable.

I have yet to see a real number that they wholesale for.

I could accept 60.00 but to me they should quit jamming us honest reloaders and keep around 45.00 and their still making 100% profit

I hit the new prices pretty good after the last "shortage". This time I am predicting 70-80 per 1000 when this all shakes out. As someone already said the CCI-Fed-Rem conglomerate now has a large lock on the market and we have taught them a big lesson on price. Win won't rock the boat and the imports may shave the price by 5 dollars or so...but us died in the wool buy US people will continue buying US. We'll see. I also think the powder prices may in fact go up a little more...and there will be a few more powders bite the dust. All depends on what happens economically in the future

Surprisingly my LGS had a small supply of large pistol primers at $49.95 per 500 or 10 cents each. I purchased some reloading equipment just before the ammo / primer shortage began and have seen no supplies available until now . My new equipment remained unused for the past two and a half years.
I bought 1000 primers for what some people are saying is too much $$ but at least now I'm able to reload for my .45 ACP for about .25 cents per round ...for the next 1000 rounds at least .
Plus I didn't have to pay shipping or hazmat fees.
If/when he gets more in I'll buy more.
