I was at the local Sportsman's warehouse today and saw something I had never seen before.

I was looking at revolvers and commented that the new model 40 classic had no lock. I mentioned that S&W had made a small batch of 642s without the lock the clerk said they didn't have one but handed me a model 360 and asked if I noticed anything strange about it. It look me a second and I noticed it had no barrel markings! Then he pointed out what I should have seen right away. It had absolutely no markings on the right side! No logo, no S&W USA, no SPFLD.MA. There were no caliber markings on the barrel shroud either. The only markings on the sides gun were the SW logo on the left side. I passed it up but I have my doubts now.

Was this a screwup? Did I pass over a treasure? I thought the Makers stamp was required by law. Should i run back and snatch it up?
