I just read on Fox News online where the Japanese Company Suntory purchased the Jim Beam Co. and all it's brands for 13.6 billion. First Budweiser and now this. What's next?

this isn't the 1st time our country has been largely foreign owned but hopefully will be the last...we will slowly buy it all back over a period of time like we did last time...but as someone mentioned it is now a global economy and we can't change that...they just want our money not our whiskey...if you have ever drank Suntory whiskey you would know why the wany ours

Don't know what a rice bug is? Think big grey cockroach 4" long and it flies. Natives like them raw, but pan fried and dancing in butter is ok -- but not for me. They eat 'em like crawfish. Rice bug season ended all romance for me.

The Panama Canal is outdated for the size of ships being built now.I read a while back where the Chinese want to build another bigger canal further south. God knows they have the money and manpower to do it.

As long as they don't mess with the product I have no problem with the purchase.I believe the Japanese have better management skills than their counterparts in America. They don't place themselves high above their workers like the elitist CEO's in America do.

Makers Mark too! Noooooooo.

I don't drink a lot of it but do keep it around for bone setting or snake bite.

I drank some once and liked it. Forgot about it.

5 or 6 years ago we were white water rafting and I ended up with a broken ankle. Went to the ER, they said, yep broke, see your Doc when you get back home. Friday evening, the pharmacies were closed, on the way to the condo I had my wife stop at a liquor store, I bought a big bottle of Makers Mark and sipped on it all weekend to keep the pain down. Wonderful stuff, they need to keep it in hospitals.....

Most likely as with most foreign deals such as this Jim Beam deal it probably for the most part will be business as usual and the product will still be made where it is now just under different ownership. Probably just another financial investment for Japan.
