This season has been a busy one for me; it's a full press Christmas preparation time around here. School festivities, church activities, and family plans take lots of time to pull off.
Part of the planning has meant saying goodbye to some things I have valued and cherished. Things are just things; tools for usage, but when attached to good memories or special dreams they can be difficult to part with. This week I said "goodbye" to both a couple of revolvers and a couple of cameras. A Taurus 8" Tracker and a S&W model 10-5 have left the homestead. Their leaving paved the way for a S&W 327 to come in. The cameras will help finance some necessary items around the home.
We used to have a rule when I was younger. Before Santa arrived bringing the latest toy or other thing I thought that I couldn't live without, we had to gather, arrange, and clean all the old toys [and later clothes and other items] we had outgrown and send them to bless someone else.
It was a good idea. I had forgotten that idea, but the concept is sound, and I hope to find some other forgotten or seldom used items to bless others with this holiday. There is a lot going on this month, but I hope to find some more things that can make someone else's December a little brighter.
