Saw in the news that scientists are poised to study Bigfoot DNA to learn more about the mysterious large primates.

Alas, the news did not specify how they will come by confirmed Bigfoot DNA...

I read maybe 25 years ago that an Army CID lab was given what was presented as such and found it to be from no known animal.

I'm pretty sure that the Discovery Bigfoot search team isn't going to be the source of any valid DNA.

So any of you guys in the Pacific NW who think you have these in the neighborhood, please try to get some hair or something for that vital DNA. Science needs your contribution!

(Actually, I do about half believe in Bigfoot, Sasquatch, Yeti, etc., but saying in the news that they'll study something that they don't have is silly.)

I for one, and many others, no doubt, are pleased to see that you are lightening up, and introducing your own version of levity, here on the forum...

Yeah , nice another bigfoot enthousiast!
Alot of sasquatch believers are waiting (and hoping) for the Melba Ketchum report....not about only hairs, but flesh too.

Years ago, "Monster Quest" from the History Channel claimed to have blood and tissue samples that were "unidentified".

A guy owned a cabin in the middle of nowhere in Canada that was allegedly home to sasquatches. According to him, the cabin kept getting torn up when he wasn't there. He thought it was bears, so he drove nails through a large sheet of plywood and put it down in front of where the "bears" were entering. Blood and tissue was supposedly found on it that tested as "unknown primate".

I forget exactly where, Alaska maybe, but there is at least 1 instance where after several instances of a cabin being damaged, a bunch of nails were pounded through boards and placed on the ground, face up, around the cabin at the base of windows and doors. Supposedly the classic large tracks were then found all around the cabin, with one of these boards being stepped on, and a lot of blood left behind by something. Maybe a piece of tissue or 2 as well, as I recall.
So that might be one source of some DNA. Between stuff like this and the serious study of some of the hairs found, we should all know soon enough if there seems to be any good evidence of their existence or not. I am pretty sure there are a few other claims of potential DNA.
Even without it, what would you think if several experts in the field were to concur that some of these hairs appeared to be from a primate but that they didn't know (or could not determine) the species?
IMO its way past overdue that our best abilities get used to study this topic and see if there really is something to it. This will be really interesting, one way or another.

In 2010, National Geographic did a story about Bigfoot DNA testing. It was discovered that Bigfoot is part of the Hevea Brasilinsis family.

Yep, and 'unknown' = Bigfoot.

The unknown primate was probably a dope-smoking, flea-infested hippie.

That's the sad state of science these days -- at least pop, grocery-store-tabloid 'science'.

It's getting Squachy in here! I love the show Finding Bigfoot. Pretty much because I think they're crazy going out in the woods and yelling saying they're doing 'sasquach calls'.

Sounds like another hole to pour tax money into.

I'm sure that if they did discover who bigfoot was they would find that he's a member of our forum.:D

Shouldn't they wait till January to do this?

I mean, like, what if the Mayans are right? All that time and money will be wasted, won't it? :D

(AWESOME thread, BTW, IMHO)

LOL when I typed my reply above, I got interrupted for a few minutes, came back, finished typing and click submit. Thats why there is 8 minutes between my thread and Cmort's describing the same thing.

It is a European group that will test the DNA and study various hair samples. Anyone have a spare Heym 470? We could get a safari together.
