Through some trading, I acquired a fairly nice condition model 41 with a serial number A 6304XX that shoots very well. A cursory net search indicated a Weaver #62 would fit to mount an optic on it, but that hasn't worked out for me.
No two holes in a Weaver 62 match any of the three holes drilled and tapped on my 41. The certainly appear to be factory drilled to my rookie eye and have nice screws in them, but I'm stymied.
Was there a date where the holes were changed? Any suggestions or wisdom is appreciated, and please assume total ignorance on my part.
Oh, any estimate on manufacture date would also be gratefully accepted.
