You really dont need to clear the A2 front sight, the focal plane is so far down range that you wont see it in your scope. I know it sounds hard to believe but it doesnt. I have mine on risers and when I had the A2 sight I couldnt see it even when the big scope was almost touching it. I also always recommend Bushnell. good scope for the money
You didn't say what you want to do with the scope, or what kind of magnification, but in your price range, the Nikon P-223 scopes are becoming popular.
Let me be more specific. I'm looking for a red dot scope. I'm also concerned about mounting it on a riser. I would like to have co witness in the lower 1/3. Thanks.
WillP,
Did you get the Vortex with the high rings and does it co witness? I guess the same question goes for cyphertext with the Bushnell and the Primary Arms. Thanks.
I have the lucid holographic hd red dot....love it. Holds zero, four diff. reticles, and really looks awesome on my sport...also has a screw on "doubler"(2x) and its only about 200$ now, plus 30 for magnifier. Its 1/3 cowitness out of the box with its own structured mount. Does exactley what I need and use it for!
Meant to write it's the Lucid HD7... I was happy with my choice as I went through three or four scopes and red dots in that price range before sticking with it...

I have the Bushnell set up for absolute cowitness on my son's rifle. He has Magpul BUS. I had it set up for lower 1/3 by placing it on a UTG .83 riser, but he didn't like it, so we put a shorter riser on it instead.
My red dot on my rifle is a Millet Multi-dot. I really like this RDS and it is another one you could get in your range. Mounted in a Primary Arms cantilever mount, it is lower 1/3 cowitness.
As for the Primary Arms red dot, yes, they will all cowitness, either absolute or lower 1/3, with the appropriate risers or mounts, depending on the style of RDS you choose.
