I just got my new AR15-22 and am wanting some opinions on scopes, but don't want to break the bank. I already have a new BSA Sweet 22 3-9x40, but it looks like it will be huge on this setup. Is this an ok scope for this rifle or should I try to get something that is more compact? I had bought this scope knowing I was going to get a .22lr, but didn't expect to end up with an AR.

I think it'll look good and it's keeps with the black theme of the gun. Just make sure to get the right rings to keep it up off the rail (and sights if you leave those on for back-up)

It also gets good reviews, except for the weight of it.

Oh yes, and welcome to the board and make sure you take pics.......we like pics......

I have a sweet .22 on my 15-22 and I thought it would look big also. It doesn't once you get it on. I don't have a picture of it unfortunately.

Went to the range and put 150 rounds through it with only 1 FTF. Shot all over the place with the iron scopes, but did mount the Sweet .22 on it this afternoon. It does look good and now I need to go back to range to sight it in.

sight it in at home first, seperate lower from upper, set up a target somewhere (end of the hall, back fence... etc.) secure lower and adjust scope to what you see in the barrel. I did this and I was only a couple clicks off at 50 yards.

Good idea - I will give it a try. Waiting on a riser to get here now.

I can shoot more precisely with a scope no question, and I know there are many innovations that I have not tried. However on my combat style rifles and my levers, a scope seems to detract from the primary beneficial features of those designs. The only answer is , more guns.
