Bought a 1006 last night from a member on another forum. It was a LEO turn in that was never issued with a REALLY low round count and easy 95-98% condition with 4 mags for $800.00. How did I do? At this time I own two other 10s, both Glocks, and I reload a lot for this caliber.

Any tips or need to know on this particular model? Any feedback will be graciously appreciated! I will post pics and range report when it arrives. P.S. It is the fixed sights version! Thanks, Jim

You did real good. It is considerably heavier than a Glock, you may be shocked when you start carrying it. The S&W 10xx series are well built, robust pistols. You will be pleased.

You did great sybo. Looking forward to the pics and range report. Best of luck.

deals like this always seem to pass me, missed the CS45 and a Sig p229 SAS that went for $525 this AM. Sometimes pawn shops get steals on guns and then pass them on. Those are good deals.

Congrats and that was not a bad deal at all!
Word of warning the S&W 10's are addictive and that 1006 is going to make your Glocks feel like cheap toys.
I owned a Glock 29 for a while but sold it after I picked up my 1066 S&W as I never wanted to shoot the Glock again.
I carry my 1066 regularly and with a good holster ( my #1 is a nice Don Hume leather ) the 1066 is quite comfortable to carry. Looking to pick up a full size 1006 at some point as those are great shooters!
As far as tips not much other than a new recoil spring is always a good idea on a used pistol. I have a 20 lb Wolff in my 1066 as I run Underwood or hot handloads. Do be aware these thing really chunk the brass so you will need a stout spring if you are loading on the hot side to keep your brass in the same zip code---.
You will be really surprised on how much softer the S&W will shoot with hot loads than your Glocks!
The S&W 10's are built like a tank and will eat anything you throw in them. Both my sons 1076 and my 1066 will actually hand cycle mags of raw unfired starline brass.

Jim, Congratulations on the S&W1006, they are very strong guns and good chamber support, based on what I have done with mine, it should handle what you throw at it!

You may want to drop by the 10mmFirearms forum where plenty knowledge and enthusiasm for all things 10mm and more.
