Went to my local pusher, only needed a pound of powder for the .270 Win rounds I was loading and came home with a nice 5" 38/44 Heavy Duty. My second in a month.

The first was a transitional model that had been converted to a target model. This one is in very nice shape, the only modifications I find are that the front sight has been reshaped similar to the Model 11's and 12's and that the hammer spur appears shortened similar to those on the 547. No chance to shoot it or take pictures yet, but I'll snap a couple if I can get home from work early one day this week.

Serial number S1054XX, and it was priced right at $400.

Mike,

Congrats on your latest. How about some pictures?

Did you pick this one up at Randy's place in Murrieta?

Last time I was in, he didn't have any HDs.

Best,

Michael

Lucky dog, bow wow.

Some months famine, drought. Some months, feast. Funny how that works.

Looking forward to PICTURES,. Just for grins have you tried chambering a 357 mag.?
I understand many of these were re-chambered and not necessarily marked as such

Whew, rough day at work...only just now getting home.

To answer a couple questions;

Michael (Kobold), yep, Randy's shop in Murrieta. This one was hiding in the back, on of the guys was waiting to show it to me. When Steve brought it out there wasn't even a tag hanging off it. I believe it may have been Steve's gun which might also explain why they didn't have any HD's available. Although, the target converted HD came from the back room too, also with no tag.

Does that say something about my buying habits that they briing guns out of the back?

Allen, .357 will not chamber. I did check that as soon as I got it home. Also checked the earlier target conversion when I brought it home a month ago.

Here are a couple quickie shots I just took before hitting the rack.

tried to get a close shot of the modified front blade.

Later in the week I will try to get a shot or two of both HD's. Not a bad month though scoring a pair of Heavy Duties for about $700 total.

If this is true I am calling the cops. That should be illegal.

Awesome gun. I'd love to have one of those - that is a lovely gun. I have n-frame-itis right now, and that would be a prized gun to have and shoot.
