I was able to get two mod 19’s today from my local FFL dealer. One is a 19-3 and the other 19-5. Wondering if these are both wearing the correct stocks. Also could someone help with birthdate. 19-3 - 9K92xxx / 19-5 - AJS9xxx
I believe these are both shooter grade and very much look forward to doing just that. Any help with info about stocks and birthdate is very much appreciated.

Are both 6" barrel? I'm pretty sure they're both wearing the correct Target stocks.

19-3 should have the football cut-out. The target stocks shown have the speed-loader cut-out. These are newer than the 19-3 but I can't tell you which years and my reference book isn't handy at the moment.:)

Nice looking guns, I am not up on current values unfortunately.

The 19-3 was produced in 1976 and the -5 'likely' in the fall of 1985.

Agree the stocks on the -3 are newer than the gun. The Patridge (flat rear faced) front sight as seen on the -3 was standard on 6" guns but without the red insert. The Baughman (ramp) front sight on the -5 is probably aftermarket; do you see any evidence it has been changed out?

Call them both in the $650 range or so, the -3 probably a little higher due to being pinned/recessed. They look nice for "shooter" guns.

What is this "Glock" to which you refer in your Forum username? :)

In my previous life before I was hit with the smith bug. Glocks were fun to shoot at my local range. Shooting in local competitions from time to time.

Ed, thank you for the info. So I need to find a set of target stocks with the football cut out for the 19-3 to have the correct shoes. Well another mission I look forward too. It would be nice to also locate the correct boxes, docs and tools. If anyone has one to post just to see what I’m searching for.
Thanks to all of the awesome info. Once again this forum is awesome!!

I have a 19-3 with a 6" barrel its a great gun looks similar to yours. I paid $800 for mine a couple of months back and felt like that was reasonable

Great looking 19-3 sir. How does she shoot? I’m excited to get to the range soon myself.

Here are the stocks you're after. I have a -3 made in '72 and it came with these:

Very nice sir, and yes I have a new quest for those stocks. Yours are super nice. Any idea what the $$ range for a set as nice as yours will set me back?

Just to clarify, those are just a stock photo...not my -3. I have a 4" that I don't have a picture handy for.

I'm going to guess you'll pay around $100 to $150 on one of the various auction sites for a good set of post-diamond football cutout target stocks.

Grips like anything gun related are going up nowadays!

That’s exactly what I’m seeing while looking around on sites. I do like the darker colored targets.

Definitely. It seems that a lot of S&W stocks from those days are almost orange. The darker ones look nicer. A lot of times that occurs naturally from use.

Is the hammer and trigger on the 19-3 considered target trigger and target hammer?

Target Hammer, Target Trigger?

Would this be the Target hammer and Target trigger? Might be hard to tell by these pictures?
