I found these two carved holsters at an area swap meet and was most surprised to see the Myres Sweetwater stamp.

A guy named David Duclos resurrected the Myres name then spectacularly flamed out in the early 2000s. Facebook posts and other forums are full of tales of money paid for rigs that were never delivered. A few of the lucky ones prevailed only after filing theft reports.

The Threepersons with hammer thong holds my 4” 66 somewhat loosely. I suspect it’s cut for a Colt SAA. The muzzle of my Colt Government Model runs even with the toe of the 1911 model, so perhaps it was intended for a Commander.

Well, to be absolutely fair, Duclos was very ill at the outset of his Myres career and didn't get better. He may not be living today; so I think of him as having faded away. Shame for us, he made really top-notch gunleather and your two are wonderful examples of same. His Sweetwater mark is superficially like Sam's originals but much larger; and Dave used the original Myres marks, too. This one marked 'with tex' is in turnerriver's collection and our book Holstory.

I have images of about 50 of Duclos' versions that IMHO are the best made of all Myres' eras. He received his training working nights with Bobby McNellis of El Paso Saddlery who had acquired the hard assets of the company while not taking the name; for which Duclos is/was the final owner of the trademark (which is not federally registered, trademarks are not like patents, they don't need to be registered).
