Hey yall,

My girlfriend bought me a SD40VE for Christmas. I had seen them in the stores before and handled them a couple times. I thought they felt good in my hands but never gave them too much thought mostly due to the pricing, expecting them to be a "junk budget gun". When I unwrapped it and saw the S&W box I got all kinds of excited. When I noticed what was inside the box my enthusiasm decreased a bit but though "hey, its another horse in the stable". I did some online research on it reading reviews and such and my enthusiasm perked back up a bit. This morning we went to the range and I'm psyched about it! I also brought the XDm9 that I acquired a couple days before. Both shot great! I have done a lot of firearms training (prior military and LEO), the majority of which (handgun wise anyways) was with a Glock 22 .40 cal. Both the S.A. and S&W felt so much better than the Glock. After a few rounds I was shooting them just as well as with my G22.

I did notice I need to change my sight picture with the SD40 though. I'm needing to aim slightly higher than I normally would. Slightly as in maybe 1/2" at 10 yards. I read about people griping about the trigger. I did not see it as an issue at all. No it's not as smooth or have as clean of a brake as my Gen 4 G22 and has a longer reset......BUT it is not bad by any means in my opinion. It will be keeping it's factory parts (as do all the firearms I use for carry) and I'm 100% good with that.

I'm impressed with the SD40VE and very happy with it. Being the narrowest pistol I own (so far!) it will soon become daily carry after a couple more range trips (just for that warm fuzzy) and once my Alien Gear holster arrives.

I know I'm preaching to the coir and all, just a little excited (and quite frankly impressed) about my new firearm and wanted to share.

great gun. i would take a look at the galloway spring/trigger kit. it will bring down the trigger to about 6 pounds with a easy pull. the reset will still be the same. but it is not a glock, it is the next best thing.

i own a SD 40 VE. its my EDC. i trust her with my life. 14+1 is also a plus while keeping a slimmer profile than a block.

im sure you will continue to be impressed by this firearm the more you shoot. i was all blocks for a long time. then i got a sd40ve

A love my SD40VE. I did a few Apex upgrades that turned the $300 gun into one that feels like a $500 with Apex goodies. GREAT gun, kinda snappy due to it's lighter weight, but that's ok by me! :) Mine also shot low, I filed the sight to compensate until it shot where I pointed it. Now she is DEAD ON.

thats a good idea. mine shot low. then i got adjustable sights and got it zeroed in correctly. now it puts a hole right where it should

I am glad that we have another convert so to speak. I have the 9mm version and am very excited about it. When I first bought it, I thought it might just be a starter gun that I would eventually trade up to something else. That is deffinately not the case, I love mine also and see no need to spend $600 on a gun to do the very same thing that this one does for me. It is also my EDC gun and home defense also. I hope more people get excited as you so SW will continue prodicing them and make more parts avaliable as well. Have Fun with it.
