Are you saying that Lone Wolf makes a barrel for the SD40VE? Do you have a link?

The Glock barrels you saw do NOT work in an SD. Neither do the S&W M&P barrels.

Lone Wolf Distributors - Product Detail - LWD Barrel M/22 40 S&W Threaded 9/16 x 24 - $94.95 thats the link to lonewolf, now when i bought the gun the Dealer said that the sd40ve and glock 22 where basically the same gun and that i could switch slides and it'd would probably still work theoretically. apparently glock sued S&W for the guns design i was told blah blah. I know nothing about glocks but i do know the sd40ve and glock 22 are both .40 cal. pistols. i was just wondering if i buy the threaded barrel will my gun still properly operate.

They are basically the same gun in the sense that they are both chambered for .40 S&W . . .

Sooooo pretty much with the sd40ve you can only really swap the trigger assembly, add light&laser and if wanted optical sight at back...... im like really interested in a handgun i can kinda modify to my specific likings.... any suggestions. with the sd40 its the first gun i ever bought, so kinda just went with the sales pitch. but now im thinking of trading it in for something better.

What are you trying to accomplish?

M&P if you want to stay with S&W. There is a TON of parts, accessories, mods, enough to spend more than you paid for the gun and then some. Same with Glocks.
Storm Lake tried making barrels for the Sigma/SD platform but dropped them about the time I asked them about them. Lots of problems, for whatever reasons. Nice service pistols, but not really race gun material.

Im looking more for a custom tactical design while enhancing performance and accuracy as it will be used for conceal carry. (if im gonna have it all the time id like to at least admire its look plus i do armature photography so im looking to Incorporate different looks besides "plain jane" if you know what i mean) my a

Here we go again, someone who wants to make this weapon something it's not. What don't you get about the SD series? S&W pretty much made this gun to be kept as is for a reason...and they did a damn good job with it. As far as you "wanting to enhancing performance and accuracy". You're full of it. The gun is dead on. I have never shot less than a 48 out of 50 and every "miss" is my fault 100%. Leave the gun alone folks. If you want a gun for "play" go buy a glock or a 1911, and leave the SDs alone.

Then you need a different pistol . . .

Hey!! I totally understand the need to take something you love and make it better. I too have been looking into ways of making my SD40VE better.
The reason??? BECAUSE I CAN! I've made vast improvements. The one I love the most was my trigger stop. It really helped with the over travel.

As for the barrel you seek.

Canadian versions of the SDVE series come with a 4.25" barrel. I've yet to locate one, but it's a good starting point. I believe 1/2" threaded area would be the minimal, but hey...experiment. But do it safely and understand your local laws.

Good luck!!
