Hope i'm doing this right as it's my first post.
Anyways, I was wondering if anybody knew if the Safariland 6360 Level III holster (more specifically the 6360-2192-131 ) fit the SD40VE. If not then does anybody know of a locking OC holster that is not the ALS that will fit the SD40VE, I've heard mixed reviews of the SERPA, and am not aware of any others.

I am glad this was posted as I have the same question. Thanks.

I purchased the Blackhawk for my SD40VE and love it. It holds the firearm snuggly and it's made in the US. It's also affordable to. I got mine from Amazon for 34 bucks. It's the #25. Fits perfectly.

Been looking hard, so far nobody makes a Level III for the SD40VE or the 9mm. Looks like I'm going to have to trade my SD for a m&p or a Glock. And since Smith is pissy about their warranty l think its a used Glock this time around.

Well, went to the gun show this weekend to look at some holsters... walked out with an all numbers matching 1939 Mosin Nagant 91/30... **** :D  , darn things breed like bunnies... better luck next time, and thanks all for the help.

You can look for a level 3 holster for a M&P full size or for Glock 17/19, AFAIK those should fit too.

My SD9VE fit perfectly in my Glock 19 holster. I think the SD40 is the same size. there is a slight different shape to the front of the trigger guard, but the SD is rounded where the Glock is more square so the rounded part fits in without any issue.

I had to go look. Mine is a Blackhawk Serpa

...and it locks in tightly. Sorry, no camera right now or I'd send a photo.

Sir,

You and I carry the same firearm. I checked their website, and according to Safariland themselves, the 6360 does not fit the Smith & Wesson SD40VE, unfortunately. Only their GLS Models 575 through 579 fit, according to them.

For my own curiosity, I decided to see how much different a common duty carry sidearm such as the Glock 23 is from the SD40VE. According to the published measurements, a Glock 23 is 1.18" wide, whereas the SD40VE is 1.23" wide. The SD40VE is also .16" shorter in length, and 0.05" taller. These little variations suggest to me that while an SD40VE will fit, the mechanical friction retention system that makes holster "Level-III" capable aren't as likely to work as expected.

Looks like Blackhawk! purports to make a holster that will fit this firearm.

I went with the OnYour6 IWB. Works nice though A LOT of people are speaking highly of the Alien Gear which I'm thinking about ordering.

Zombie Thread alert! LOL. The OP was looking for a Level III holster. The Kind that you have to unlock with your trigger finger. But yes, there a tons of companies that make holsters for the SDVE guns. Heck, even "Top Tier" Holster makers like Bravo Concealment make them. It's a very popular carry gun option. And according to a recent video by Iraqiveteran8888, the sigma/sw/sd/sdve is the most commonly found gun in police evidence lockers. Something to be said there.

Holster

I Have a Tagua. Nice brown leather that is designed for the MP40 but fits the SD very nice. It is comfortable and I carry it everywhere I go. Clips to my belt and stays put. can also switch clip or conceal carry. :)
