I just bought a SD40VE, and I am blessed with the rattling magazines. Mine rattle no matter how many rounds I load them with, and no matter if I smack them into my hand while loading, etc. I searched for and read some threads about this issue, and what discussions I found were 6 months old or more.

In a couple of threads, members were discussing the option of replacing the springs and followers with those for Glock 23 models. Others suggested using the spring from a Sigma (SW series) or a Wolff spring.

I haven't seen any recent posts on this subject...so, I was just wondering if anyone has tried these various approaches, and how they worked for them? I know it's not a functional problem, merely an annoyance, and actually not even that much of an annoyance in that it's not noticeable to anyone else...it's not like I am banging gongs or blowing whistles while I am walking along.

i use glock sprints in my carry mags. or you can just download one round and prevent it. its the curse of the double stack. make mods at own risk and i wont be able to send the mags in without replacing the factory springs

Actually, mine rattle no matter how many rounds are in the mag. I have noticed that they both (the two mags that came with the gun...haven't bought any more yet) rattle less when I have 13 rounds in, but they still rattle. The rattle is significantly worse when I have 14 rounds in, or any amount less than 13.

I've loaded and reloaded the mags a few times, just to see. I have noticed that when I have 13 rounds in the mag, and insert the mag into the gun with the slide closed, and then remove the mag, it rattles more than it did, but still not as much as it does with any other round count.

It's not really that big a deal...especially if the mags work fine, and by all reports they seem to do so despite the rattle. I've read other comments from people saying that any double stack mags will rattle, but all that I've ever had never have...at least not when fully loaded.

my glock mags dont rattle. i rarely even carry my glock anymore my SD is my go to option now.

as far as remedying it, i would try other springs. when i pulled some glock springs off old mags it made a big difference

Did you use the SD followers with Glock springs, or Glock springs and followers in the SD mag bodies?

I used the sd followers. Didnt want to swap both until i saw hoe just the sping worked. It worked fine an saw no need to change followe

A forum member posted a solution for this a while back using the glock springs. I tried it in my SD and it works great.

Did you use just the spring (and I assume for a Glock 23 mag) with the SD follower, or both the Glock spring and follower?

I read the thread that MrJT linked (above), and the OP in that thread said he had an issue using the SD follower with the Glock spring. hmbiohazard said the SD follower worked fine with the Glock spring in his.
