SD9 2.0

What are M&Ps (1st and 2nd Gens) going for in your area?

The SD isn't a bad pistol at all. It's extremely :-) similar to a Glock. The guys I knew who had the previous version found them reliable but that the trigger was lacking. The version you are talking about has a new trigger. You won't win the world championship with it, but it'll shoot straight for you.

If you are looking for a fun gun, or something to keep in the house and occasionally take to the range and don't wanna spend much the SD is a fine choice IMHO. If you want a spare or loaner pistol that'll work too.

If you are looking for a duty gun, I'd go with a M&P 2.0.

I have an SD9VE. Bought it to fill a hole in the Smith 9mm pantheon. Nice pistol, an Apex trigger was an improvement. The grips fit my smallish hands about as well as anything I own. No regrets buying mine.

About ten years ago I bought an SD9VE for $249 at my LGS. I normally wouldn't have been interested in something like that, but the low price sucked me in. It's been my home defense gun ever since. It's been 100% reliable but the grip was a little slick so I put tape on it. Also the trigger pull is around 8 lbs and not conducive to shooting smiley faces in a target at 25 yards. However for a home defense gun I actually like that fact, as it's not the sort of trigger you're going to pull by accident.

The new 2.0 version seems pretty much the same aside from deeper cocking serrations and an improved trigger. I would rather have it than the older model, but I'm not going to spend the money and upgrade as the old model works well enough for me.
