SD9VE vs 910

I have a 910 and my wife won't let me sell it (I wouldn't anyway) because she takes the X ring out of a target with it at combat distances. It's light and has lot of replacement parts /mags available from other 3rd gen smiths.
The SD9VE is new at my LGS for $349 plus tax. Now that seems like a no brainer.. new gun for $349 or used 15+ year old gun for $300.
BUT: Here are a couple of points...
1. Any gun new today at $350 has to be cheap.. as in cheaply made.
2. I have shot the SD9VE and the trigger is like 12# ... maybe 8.5# but it is terrible.
3. The 910 is also a value series pistol but it is a 3rd gen all metal gun with a hammer... the fact that they can get $300 for it should tell you something. The hammer just adds a level of safety and versatility.
4. The 910 has a far superior trigger.
5. The 910 is very serviceable as it is for all intents and purposes a 5906 and there are scads of them out their to get parts from plus new parts are available from Midway, Brownells and S&W.
6. Uses a 15 round mag.. same as any 3rd gen 9mm.
Guess which I think you should buy?... Or at least I would buy.

I have a 910 & a SD9VE. Both guns are keepers. If a bad guy was coming at me, and both guns were laying on the table next to me, I'd grab the 910. It has a sweet trigger & minimal muzzle flip. Now if I wanted to shoot him with the prettier gun, I'd grab the SD9VE.
To that guys defense he had a woman prior coming to look at it before he knew i wanted it. He felt sure she wouldnt get it due to its size. He does feel bad about it but she made 1st contact with him

If you liked the 910...... anything you can find in the 5900 series or a 915.
If it's just for home D and the range........ don't pass up a 5906 all stainless steel....really dampens the recoil of the 9mm.... almost like shooting a .22lr
