SDVE 9MM SCRATCHES

I HAVE A 9MM SDVE THAT HAS A COUPLE OF SCRATCHES AND WAS WONDERING IF SOME 1000 GRIP EMERY CLOTH MAY BE A GOOD IDEA?

Personally I would leave it alone! If you make it nice and perfect, it will only get scratched up again when it's shot. The other thing is you will remove any sort of protective finish on there (assuming there is one to start with), but even if there isn't, I think you are looking to make it perfect in a non perfect environment for a pistol. That would be short lived!
 
The problem with trying to remove a few small scratches is that yu are not going to get the area treated to exactly match the rest of the gun. So, you'll have to put up with something more unsightly than the scratches, or re-do the entire slide. Not really that onerous a job, but it won't look original.
 
It's a tool, not a trophy.

I will add this; I've lived long enough to stop myself from "making something better" only to wish a genie would pop out of a bottle and put it back the way it was before I started.
