Some years ago my Great Uncle left me his S&W 38

I’m looking to find out more information about it

No Model
Hand Ejector
K267XXX
38 S.W. Special CTG
4” Barrel
Adjustable Sight

Not sure how to load up pictures here.

Any info would be greatly appreciated

You have a .38 Combat Masterpiece. It dates to about 1956. S&W didn't assign model numbers until 1957 and stamped firearms didn't appear to about 1958. The .38 CM was designated the Model 15. Some would refer to your revolver as a "pre Model 15." I'm assuming this revolver has a ramp front sight.

The most likely candidate for this revolver would be the Combat Masterpiece, and this one would date from approximately 1956. In 1958, the Combat Masterpiece would become the Model 15. Your gun is capable of safely firing any commercial manufactured .38 S.W. Special ammunition.

Are the original style grips available? I thought that they may have been changed out. I wouldn’t mind changing them to original style if I could find them.

S & W stocks of this era have the digits of the SN stamped on the inside right panel; if you find a set that are close to the same number they have a high likelihood of fitting properly. Good luck in your search.

Welcome. There are some on ebay for say. Dressing it up with the diamond magna's would make the revolver look terrific!

Was he enlisted or an officer? Do you have any pictures of his sword?

Your great uncle left you an example of one of the best shooters in the history of revolvers. Yours is quite worn ... I have one that looks at least that bad - and it is a joy to shoot , favorite of all my revolvers.

If and when you regrip , consider going with S&W K frame targets , they perform really well. The image will illustrate ---
