I get SO FRUSTRATED trying to use the search function on this site. I want to know more about an end label. The caliber is entered as ".22M" and I would bet a nickel someone has posted about this before. But the search function gives me "zero results." Even when I search for just "22" I get "zero results." I cannot believe that "22" has never been typed in a post in the history of this forum. So frustrating...

The search functions on many forums are kindly described as "not the best". Many search engines on forums will toss out search terms like ".22M" as being too short. Sometimes the "Advanced Search" option will help. I put the OP's search term in there, and it seems that the search system interprets the decimal point in some odd manner. I put "22 Magnum" (including the quotes) into the advanced search system and got 500 results, which I believe is the system limit.

It is what it is. Forums are forums, a fancy type of database. Search engines like Yahoo and Google have $$$ millions poured into them to improve their effectiveness. That isn't happening in forum-land.

First off, my cat knows more about using a computer than I do:D.

With that said here is a little trick I use that many times helps.

Go into google and put the subject you want in the area with a comma after it and then put in the name of the car forum.

Many times you will get a reply as google searches better into the forums search area! Of course your looking up a gun topic use that forums name!

Hope it helps you!

I have found that if you just go to the search bar from anywhere on the forum you get zero results. However if you look in the left corner of the main header, it says forum. Click on that and it takes to the main page, which may be where you were. But by clicking on the forum tag it clears something and you can search. Sometimes I get a message that says your token has expired. Click on that tag and it clears everything.
Someone else that knows computers please try this and tell me if I’m crazy or not.
