I am just setting up my RCBS Pro2000 for the first time and am having an issue I can't figure out with my seater die. I have used the .38 die set on RCBS single stage with no problem. Sizer and expanding die working OK.
Problem is I hit the shellplate before I can get to the case mouth so cannot crimp the case. I can get the bulet set the right depth but when I try to set the die deep enough to crimp I bottom out.
Not been a problem with the dies on the single stage press. What the heck am I doing wrong?
Thanks,
Rex

Take the seater stem out of the die, run the die all the way down until it touches the shell holder base, and see if it crimps the empty.

Not familiar w your machine, but if the bottom of the die contacts the top of the shell holder without crimping the case, then the shell holder is up too high (assembled wrong or upside down). Check out one of the demos on YouTube. Perhaps you can see a problem in your setup.

If you are using the same die set you have used on a single-stage press without problems I would say you are doing something wrong. Not having used any progressive I cannot even guess, but RCBS Customer Service certainly can help you, I can guarantee you are not the first!

In the product manual, page 5, has the detailed instructions for RCBS dies. I don`t have a set of RCBS 38spl dies, mine are LEE 4die set, so different to set up. I do have a 40s&w RCBS die set, and the instructions were dead-on.
Congrats on your new press, had my 2000 for 10yrs now, this month.
It might take a while to get the hang of it, if comming from a single stage, just take your time and everything will fall in place.
