Hey guys - would a model 59 threaded barrel fit a compact 2nd gen pistol (469 or 669)? I imagine it would stick out a bit. But would it function?

How about the mags? Would those also work with them extending out the bottom?

Just looking for a new project and want to make the most of the parts I got.

I've never tried it, but I'm not entirely certain the extra 1/2" of barrel is not going to cause a bind between the barrel and bushing before the chamber portion of the barrel drops into the slide.

Don't know about a Smith & Wesson, but a friend put a 1911 Government Model barrel into a Commander frame, and it worked.

The model 59 barrel will "fit" into a model 469/669 and will stick out the front of the slide...

But it will also flop around like a mackerel because the 469/669 utilized a "fixed" barrel bushing designed for a "belled" muzzle on the barrel whereas the 59 barrel used a removable bushing and the barrel has a consistent diameter for its length.

The mags will work.

I dont even think you would be able to get the barrel in the slide. There is not enough room for the barrel to cam up without the “bell” profile at the muzzle

I'm in the midst of a similar project, won't work without some serious effort. My plan is to design a radial bushing for the 469 slide and fit that to a 59 barrel.

It is possible to press the fixed bushing out of the 469/669 barrel and mill in a slot to accept the removable bushing.
