This morning I went to the range for the second time with my new M&P9 M2.0 compact. It was an enjoyable and positive session.
I was able to put down a lot of ammo in the short time I had to spend. The ammo I used for the session was all factory-new. I do not shoot reloads anymore.
This is what I shot:
150 rounds Sellers & Beloit FMJ 115gr
50 rounds Federal HST 124gr
50 rounds Fiocchi JHP 124gr
50 rounds Freedom XTP 124gr
All 300 rounds loaded, fired and ejected without a single mechanical failure. Now, counting both times at the range so far, 600 rounds have been spent successfully. I am really pleased with my compact for in the past I have had a few sidearms that had trouble during their break-in phase.
The balance of the M2.0 is excellent. The gripping surface of the pistol is infused with pebble-like material that provides a strong tactile feel on the grip. These two factors help to make recoil quite soft.
I replaced the OEM white dot front sight with a Hiviz front fiber optic sight and blacked out the dots on the rear sight. This eliminated the conflict I have had using the triangle of three dots converging and creating sight confusion. Doing this made realignment on target after recoil much easier and faster for me.
I placed my targets seven yards from the firing line and slow shot two-hand isosceles, two-hand point-shooting and single right and left hand Weaver. I shot only a few double and triple taps.
My accuracy shooting with one hand is bad. I simply no longer have the arm and hand control to keep the pistol level when I squeeze the trigger. I continue to train with one hand hoping that I never have to only use one hand to shoot to protect myself.
Shooting with two hands, the hits were fair to excellent. Hopefully, after more practice sessions, my accuracy with the M2.0 compact will reach the same level as that of my Ruger GP-100 and Ed Brown Class A Limited.
I am veryhappy with the purchase of this fine compact pistol.
