Seldom used or odd words; I'll start

Fond Memories

Transmogrify: a fanciful or unusual transformation

Ah yes, brings back many fond memories of "Calvin and Hobbes". I have the complete set of "Calvin and Hobbes" books. About twice a year, I get one out and use it for my evening reading. IMHO, Bill Watterson is a wonderful artist and a better intellectual. .......

My grandmother was born in 1892. She has been gone many years now. A few words she used often and I still remember.

Grip - suitcase - Pack you grip for the trip.
Wraps - Coat/sweater/etc. "Don't forget your wraps".
Picture show - Movie at a movie theater. "Going to the picture show".
Sweeper - Vacuum cleaner.

Any Carpetbaggers around?
A few ago was working on my genealogy.
The local expert lady was helping me.
We were working on some of my Mother's folks.
They came down from MO to MS after the war to buy cheap land.
Mildred the expert said 'Those are Carpetbaggers.'
So I'm kin to Carpetbaggers.
That fact did not please my Mother.
