Selling Guns and Ammo to a good friend

I gave my brother-in-law a box of 380 plus 15 rounds of 380 sig-sauer critical defense. When I was not looking he left 2 $20 bills at my house. My first impulse was to mail the money back to him, but he refused, saying that was half or less of what he could have gotten it for. Especially the Critical Defense.

My mom and her sisters had special $20 bills. Whenever one sister bought something for the other they got one of the special bills in return. They went round and round like this so many times the bills got worn out :)

LOL, I did tell him I was going to charge him double what I paid for the ammo.... But since I had only paid $ .15/rnd, it's a bit of a deal @$ .30/rnd.

Considering that at the Pasadena, TX gunshow Saturday the average price per round for ANY ammo was $1.50/rd, 30 cents a round is indeed a "bit" of a deal.:D

.30/rd and what you paid for the rifle is the way to go, IMO.

I'm going to vote for the check idea . Seeing as you're both older , like I'm a spring chicken , that would sound reasonable to him . Unless you needed the money , I wouldn't cash it .

I have friends like that , a couple of cape retirees . Neither are married and usually they help each other . But sometimes it doesn't work out , and I step in . It goes without saying , they don't even offer gas money or anything . But when we go to lunch after the range , whoever I helped out takes the check . No thanks , no nothing , it just plays out . My wife laughs , says " You Men ." But that's is what true friends do , help each other without expectations .

When I sell a gun to a friend, I sell it for what I paid. I really don't have that many close friends, but those I have will help at a drop of blood or a phone call. If Your friend is aware of Your cancer, do the best You feel You can. Even trade for prayers. Best of luck regardless of what You decide.

Totally agree!

Dug the Ishy out from the closet and gave it a good wipedown and pulled the bolt to get some light down the bore. It's in WAY better condition than I had thought. Bought it as a backup to my M1A, and have never fired it. Has a rack number on it and looks like it was drilled with more than shot. The bore looked crisp and the rifling was sharp. IIRC, I paid $150 or so. The Israeli mauser was closer to $100.

$150 for the rifle and $0.30/rnd should work out fine for both of us, if he wants the Ishy, it's in way better shape than the Israeli Mauser. Perhaps offer both rifles for $250, since he is aware of the historic aspect of a IDF marked rifle as am I. Might have seen combat, likely has.

Hope all this goes well.

Thanks All!

Rob
