This one came factory drilled and tapped for scope mount blocks.......the proof mark on the barrel is off to the side instead of top dead center indicating it was factory drilled. This is a 1925 production Winchester.

I have the original scope blocks with screws but removed them and filled the holes with the appropriate screws. Unfortunately I do not have the original A5 scope and offset mounts that would have been correct for the rifle......but maybe someday!!

Features checkered pistol grip stock.

Very fortunate to have come across this one....of all the Winnie's in the safe, this one is truly my most elaborate.

This rifle appears to have been carried a lot and was likely used for hunting. Just imagine the stories this rifle could tell!
Jim

The blue loss is mostly confined to the receiver area which would indicate being carried for sure.....the finish on the barrel and mag tube is nearly 100% so the gun was well cared for between hunts......just some sweaty hands is my guess!

Yes.......if only she could talk!!!

I wish Winchester wasn’t so attached to using nickel steel for their receivers. The bluing would literally flake off over time. It is very hard to locate any guns of this era that don’t exhibit some of this. Most older rifles like Remington and Savage would show wear only where it was mostly cradled in the palm of the hand while carrying...the underside and lower edges.

OP: beautiful rifle in a rare configuration and with the uncommon chambering.

Perfect just the way it is. I've always wanted a 25-35 but the stars have not aligned for me.
I just love these "gun shows" on the forum.

Simply beautiful! If Winchester were to again produce rifles of this sort, they'd sell a ton of them! Sincerely. bruce.

Bruce you are spot on, they would sell millions of them!!

Look how many of us own the Uberti and other copies.....kind of seems odd that Winchester AND Marlin did not cater to the Cowboy Action folks and just us plain shooter bums!!

I guess I'm just dumb.

The title of this thread says octagon barrel, but in the pictures it sure looks round to me.

What am I missing?
