Except for me, maybe im the only person in this world that has never bought a gun from the internet or from a gun show without having to do a background check.

sadly, this vote is the proverbial line in the sand. and that righteous indignation our savior-in-chief spouted this afternoon will strengthen the resolve the liberal gun-grabbers. . . it was bad enough having to put up with their smugness but now they'll be sanctimonious and indignant!
the irony is that I support implementing gun show checks
that mirror gun shop protocols (I thought they were already there though) and if the left weren't so rabidly anti then I might be a little more cooperative!

Excuse my ignorance here but I didn't understand the part about background checks for internet sales anyway. I have bought many guns over the internet (GB, here, and other forums), and if they are from out-of-state, they are always shipped to a local FFL dealer, which then requires a BGC to then transfer to me. Why would an additional BGC for internet sales be necessary?? On the few occasions where they were in-state, a private legal, face to face transaction occured with no BGC. Is it those few in-state transactions that the new law would have applied to?

Your state, if it did not already require background checks on private sales, would have.
They like to make it SOUND like people are throwing guns everywhere on the internet, then sending them to peoples homes....

I have now learned that this was a procedural "Nay" that allows him to revive it at a later date. I don't know how that works.

I've seen the theories already that it was a pro gun person trying to stir up fear so people would want to go home and grab their guns.

The OP forgot to put a smiley or rolleyes with his original post. If the gun is bought IN STATE from a private party, no check is required. What they wanted to do in DC was link the Internet in to make it look easy AKA bad. It's no easier than looking at an ad in then paper.
My local news station is still chuffing about gunshows. You haven't been able buy a gun at a show in this town without a check for years.
More important to me me is the fact that the amendment to NOT allow the U.S.A. to be part of the united nations gun control did pass !!! Obama is screwed there now, this is a big deal it was his way to completely bypass the second amendment... all gun control, registration and purchases would then have been managed by the State Dept. However , sadly the amendment to say that if you have a ccw in one State it would be valid in any State did NOT pass .. 2 votes short.
we, the true people, held our ground, pushed back the oppressors (once again) and kept the constitution firmly in place.
in approximately 55 days, folks here in the "land of Lincoln" will be able to defend ourselves outside of our homes and no longer be the nations orphans.
