Just got a registered magnum, and the factory letter came with it, obviously in the previous owners name.
Is there any issue sending the copy of the factory letter in for a SWHF research with that other persons name? Or do i need to get a new letter with my name on it?

S&W calls it a Letter of Authenticity. They have a form you submit that identifies the gun fully if you fill it out completely. Then they send you the letter, a one to one-1/2 page document that has some general background and history on the model, then a closing paragraph that identifies shipping date and destination of your particular revolver, plus any specifics that may be called out on the factory invoice for your gun. Sometimes the records cannot be found, so you get a letter that says that. The price is $50 per gun and you may have to wait up to three months to receive the letter.
