Joaquin "El Chapo" ("Shorty") Guzman, the head of the infamous Sinaloa drug cartel, seems to be regarded as a hero and a Robin Hood figure in Mexico, at least in his state.. Now he has again escaped from prison--a maximum security facility at that. He somehow tunneled into a lighted tunnel that runs for a mile under the prison and got clean away.

Gee, I wonder how that could have happened, don't you? Probably dug out with a spork.

A mile long tunnel with a motorcycle? Those ny guys were amateurs.:D

Well, in fairness they weren't worth multiple gazillions of dollars.

And I'll venture a guess they weren't considered heroes to the degree that songs were written about them. Apparently el Chapo is.

He's wanted on some very heavy charges in this country. He's bound to know that if he's busted here his chances aren't nearly as good as they are in Mexico, where apparently he's damn near royalty and feared by a lot of people in high places. He's bound to know, literally and figuratively, where an awful lot of bodies are buried.

I agree it would cost him a lot more to buy his way out of prison in this country. I don't know what a presidential pardon goes for these days, but I would expect well in to 8 figures for someone like him. I used to keep up with which presidents gave the most flagrant pardons as they left office, but the numbers grew too big to keep up with. It does make for interesting reading for those who know how to google.

Its all good. I was really rooting for the NY guys. But they were unfinanced and stupid. They busted out on a shoestring and lasted 3 weeks. Had the big guy listened to the little guy, they'd have gotten a lot farther. The undoing was the evil alcohol. Shorty has what we would call adequate financing. He also has friends on the outside. Better still, he's an embarassment to the mexican government! Makes me like him even more.

So I'm rooting for him, not the Mex govenrment and their corrupt ways. And I don't know sheet from shinola.

Anyone rooting for Chapo Guzmán in this country doesn't know the full story. He's a "Robin Hood" among the poor in his own state due to his endowment of schools and hospitals. On the other hand he's thought to be responsible for a hundred thousand or more grisly deaths.

Anyone ever read much about Pancho Villa? Same deal. He killed many of his countrymen but he had a large following at the same time. Him and Zapata were revolutionaries with the peoples concerns and advancement as their goal. All the others against Villa were crooks and thieves catering to foreign interests while the people were ignored. Mexico is an interesting place to say the least.

Good read here.

History has a way of being changed as to who or what was good or bad .Will have to see who interprets his life . like the reason for the war between the states ,or the swastika now. Strange things happen to history depending who is in power or who writes it.
