Serial number ~ age help

I recently acquired a 629-3, with serial number “TJA-64xx”. Can anyone provide me with a ship date from the factory for this 8 3/8” S&W 44Mag?

I do not see that "3 Alpha" s/n listed in the SCSW4, but it is 4-5 years old now. If it falls in the normal rotation it Might be around 1991, but they were not utilized in strict order. Do you have the box/ If so the Special Order code is a Julian Date of when your gun was made.

With certain exceptions (such as the Thunder Ranch Revolver model 21-4 TRR prefix), it is unusual to see a T letter prefix on a revolver. It is very common on semi-auto pistols. A letter of authenticity would clarify matters.
