Serial Number Assistance - M41 UBA41xx ***updated with pictures***

My FFL has a model 41 with a UBA41xx serial number. I have the new SCSW and the three letter designations start in 1984 for autos according to what I read. I can't find anything closer than that. However, reading threads here it seems it would be in the 1996 to 1998 range.

Can anyone provide me with a date of manufacture and any other pertinent information about this series? How is this series? It's a 5". Is standard velocity ammo still the recommendation or are the newer ones okay with hi-velocity ammo?

1997 Serial numbers begin with UAMxxx, 1998 with VHN..seeing your UBAXXXX is between those two prefixes, I'd guess yours was early-mid 1997.

Without 'lettering' the pistol its impossible to determine the ship date.

I would just like to get an idea of the date of manufacture or shipping whichever is fine. I just couldn't find the serial number sequence in the SCSW.

I have a Mdl 41 that I purchased NIB in Apr '95 with SN UBA94XX (for $649). I presume yours was produced earlier.

What would be the correct box for 1997 or 1995?

Mine purchased in '95 came in a blue cardboard box. The box has a hinged top.

Here it is. Took it to the range and it shoots incredibly well.
