Serial Number Help

I am not sure what I have. I think it is a Combat Masterpiece: 38sp, 4" blued, serial number K216999. 5 screw.

I bought it from a dealer back east on one of the auction sites. Story is, it was a police issue carry gun; the guy long retired and now selling off his weapons. Good condition, some carry wear, the cylinder shows it most. Mechanically tight, clean bore. A real nice shooter.

Can anyone give me more info about the pistol? What year was it made?

It was shipped somewhere in 1954 - 1955 . S&W has no information when guns are
made - only when shipped.

Thanks Mike, ballpark will do. This is not a trophy as you will see when I get the pix posted. Good solid shooter, don't have to kid-glove the thing.
