I just got a very nice 625-9 Mountain Gun in 45 Colt. Has the standard 4 inch MG barrel.
Trying to find out a couple things from those smarter than me....which qualifies everyone here!!

Serial: CJK9XXX

1. When is her birthday?

2. What made the -9 specifically different from a -7??

3. Recommended loads for "woods carry"??

Thanks in advance!

The CJK prefix is not specifically listed in the SCSW 3rd Edition but the -9 was made from 2001-2003. The change from -7 to -8 (45 ACP) and -9 (45 Long Colt) was the addition of the internal lock system. The -8 and -9 were made concurrently. Sorry, can't help with the loads. I guess it depends on what you are planning to encounter and if it has two legs or four.

Thanks for the reply. At least I know a time frame now. I figured the lock might be the reason for the -9.

As far as the loads go, Im primarily interested in stopping 4 legged critters, namely HOGS! Really thick swamp where I hunt and not much visibility so hence the Mountain Gun. Double Tap makes a 255 grain Hardcast WFN that is looking like my cup of tea.
