Serial number on grips

Picked up a model 31-1 at the gun show yesterday, gun appears to be unfired. My question is the grips have a serial number one number off from the one on the gun.
Is this a common mix up. Gun is H XXX344 grips are Hxxx343.

Hmmmmm, makes one wonder if Gun H XXX343 has grip Hxxx344.
