I have a 32 L rp handejector 4" bbl square butt, square latch, ugly imitation ivory grips. [Franzite?] It has a number in the yoke that matches a number in the frame where the yoke rests. [83xxx] It has numbers on the cylinder and the butt that match. [63xxx] Which would be the serial #? Parts gun or late model assembly? The nickel finish seems uniform and seems to match.

Is your gun marked MOD 31-1 on the frame when the yoke is open? You were given correct info about where the serial number is to be found, but does the number on the butt have an H prefix?

If there is no model marking and no H prefix, I think an extra X is needed, as the serial number would be a six-digit number.

Excuse me for even asking a question that goes against something you have already said, but if this gun is a .38 Regulation Police (a five-shooter), it could have a five-digit serial number without a letter prefix in the range you mentioned.
