I’m eyeing a Model 36-2 with a serial number that starts with the letters BDA (BDA6XXX). Can’t find any information on what the letters signify, if anything. Any ideas? Thanks.
In 1980 Smith & Wesson began to transition to a new alphanumeric serial number system, in which the serial begins with three letters, followed by four numbers.
A revolver with a “BDA” prefix likely shipped sometime around 1990.
Cant say for revolvers, but pistols in the BAY-BDH range from 2004-2006. Best to check with SW at [email protected] Send Model and full s/n and ask for Manufacture date.
