I bought a Series E in December. It had a rough slide. It would get "sticky" half way through the cycle, slow the slide down enough that it would fail to feed at least one round per mag. My gunsmith looked at it and said to Send it back to S&W.

Now it has come back (over a month later) with a slide that is extremely "gritty" the entire slide cycle. I was truly shocked that they would return the gun to me in that state saying that it "met all manufacturer's specs." Back it goes to Smith. Very disappointed.

It is unfortunate that they are having spotty issues with the new "E" series. Hopefully they will resolve the issue(s) for you this time. Rumor has it they are re-launching the "E" series with additional calibers (40 S&W & 10mm). For their sake I hope they pay additional attention to quality control to avoid these problems, as it isn't helping them in the 1911 community, who already has traditionalists turning up their noses at the external extractor.
