Server Move - After Action Report

I believe we are completely done with the server move. Thank you all for your patience during this process.

This thread is to find and fix any scraps we have missed. Please let us know if you are having any issues other than the one below as of this morning (2/16/12).


For those of you who have issues getting redirected to the front page when you attempt to view a subforum or thread, please read the solution to that problem here:

The "like" system will be returning, but in a different format, better than the old format. Sadly, your existing "likes" are gone and will not be returning. That was part of the process. The old like system was causing us problems on the "back side" of the forum and had to be permanently removed.

There are other cool things coming in the next several days/weeks. Things to look forward to, believe me!

Thanks for the heads up. Not sure what is going on there. I'll look into it.

I can only access the M&P forum via Mozilla Firefox, NOT on Window's Internet Explorer using Windows 7, latest (current) versions on both. It all worked before. (albeit slowly) I prefer using Windows and IE.

What's really weird is I can get to other forums, but clicking on M&P, which is about the only forum here I go to, always brings me back to the main page, where M&P is a sub category.

It all works fine on my Android smart phone, but I will not type and post via a phone. Thanks for trying anyway...

issues on just one of two computers

what is odd is that everything works fine when i log on from my computer at work, but when i log on my lap top at home i can't get into a number of the forums, specifically the classifieds.

I can get into every subforum but the Lounge and Concealed Carry. If I follow the directions given and delete my browser history, will that wipe out all my other favorite websites that I stay logged into?

No, it will not delete "Favorites". You will have to log in again.

FYI: When I log in I am redirected to the normal log in redirection page with a message regarding an invalid url. Once I click on the forum logo in the upper left corner, all is well and I am logged in.

Gateway Failure on posting classifieds

I've had this happen twice now and I saw where it happened to someone else while posting in the classifieds. When I go to submit a new classified posting, nothing happens for about 20 seconds and then I get a message about "Gateway Timed Out" or something like that. I have to hit the submit button again before my ad appears in the forum. Looks like this caused duplicate ads for one of the other posters.

Other than that, I really like the speed of the new server.

When clicking on the PM popup box, it goes to an error message. Happened twice now.

Thanks for reporting that. The Gorilla had been the only person to report that, I told him it was his fault. We will address this.

Please follow the link in the first post. The one in between the LARGE RED TEXT that says "I keep getting redirected to the front page." It will resolve your issue.

I get the same thing. A large box in the middle that says welcome, you are viewing as a guest, please join our community, etc.; directly below the dashboard box that shows me logged in as BaldEagle1313.

It isn't impeding my access to the board, as the system does believe I'm logged in and allows me to go to PM and other member-only parts of the board, but I imagine it's something you'd want to fix eventually.

Just info that may help, at least with Firefox. Options - Privacy - open the cookie list and delete any existing cookies for smith-wesson forum. Fixed my problem.

Fixed it. Your image was in your profile, but you did not have the code for the sig pic in your signature box. All other sig pics seem OK.

This does NOT erase your favorites.

It DOES log you out of every website you have a saved login for.
Your user name and password are not affected.
BEFORE you perform this, write down your User ID's and passwords, or RESET your passwords so you can login again at the other websites you visit as well as here.

I'm sorry this is necessary.
Your alternative is to wait 20, 30, 60, 90, or 300 days till your browser dumps the old URL's on its own, depending on how you have it set.

I've emptied cache I've read post 59 and 61 in trouble shooting thread and still not able to load pics I've never had a problem before move. I just went to THR and uploaded pic they appear to have Identical attachment manager. Not being wise I just thought this info may help.
