Set Triggers...

Guess I am a set trigger Junkie.....

All my centerfire rifles have either single set or double set triggers. Truth be told, I prefer the double set.

You hardly hear much about these trigger types anymore.... Anyone else here with set triggered rifles?

I like them a lot. I have two Mannlicher-Schoenauer carbines with double set triggers -- a 1903 (6.5mm) and a 1908 (8mm).

The adjustment screw on the 1908 needs some fine tuning; there's a non-adjusting dead zone between the one ounce release and the one pound release that just doesn't change with screw position. I'll get into the works some day and make some adjustments.

I wish I had a full set of these in all the prewar chamberings, but they are getting more expensive.

Sir, I've got set triggers on my muzzleloader and like them. I also like them on the big '74 Sharps. For most things, though, I prefer a military type two-stage trigger. Similar philosophy, just executed differently.

Got double-set on my Sharps and my muzzle loader. Got single-sets on my three CZs. Wish I had 'em on a few more. I like 'em.

Have it on my Sharps (a real relic that I do not fire) and a pair of M/S in 8mm. Those are some of the most accurate shooting rifles I own. The late George Hyde, a relatively well known Black Forest trained German gunsmith who worked in NY once upon a time, did most of the work on the M/S's and a couple of my Mausers. I guess he'd be well over 100 years old today, seems like he was alway's old, even 40 years ago. I like them (set triggers) very much and I believe they really do much for accurate let off for a precision shot.

My Mannlicher Schoenauers all have them. I do remember and have seen the single trigger option that used to be available for the rifles. I always thought that looked so out of place on them!

I sold a 98 Sporter w/ DST and a Greener (side) safety. Kind of a different combination. The original bolt safety still there. I guess the Greener safe was quieter in a stand.
Rotating the Greener safe blocked the front trigger only of the DST and could be used only with the DST in the 'set' mode.

I have several sets to go into M/L rifle projects in the future. The last rifle I put a plain single trigger in for some reason. But I really do like the things.

Only on my black powder "Plains' or Hawken style rifles. Wouldn't mind a set trigger on my Ruger No.1.

I briefly owned a TCR 83 with double set triggers and it shot like a dream. I foolishly traded it for something else I don't have now. I think that the M/S is one of the classiest looking rifles ever built.
I've recently been trying to locate a CZ in 6.5x55 with the s/s trigger but having no luck.

My Ruger #3 based schuetzen rifle came with a single set trigger. Unset, it breaks light and clean. Set, you THINK FIRE and it goes. Great for off hand shooting.
If I were a better shot I would be unbeatable.

An old friend of mine had one of his grandpappy's .375 Holland and Holland with double set triggers. That was one fine weapon! The only ones I have are smokepoles, but I lust after one of those Mannlichers, preferably in 7mm.

I have a DST on my Mannlicher 1903 in 6.5mm; also a SST on my CZ453 bolt rifle in 22lr. I am a big fan of them. Wish I had more.

I have 4 or 5 set trigger guns. Two Ohio Half-Stocks w/double sets, a Springfield Officers Model Trapdoor with a single set and a Belgian 44 cal. centerfire target pistol with a double set. I also have a New York made mule ear target rifle with, what I could best call a "set hammer".
The hammer has three positions. the first is a half cock, the second is what seems like a standard cock and the third position sets a very light trigger pull, but not quite as light as a set trigger. Anybody seen anything like this? The gun was made by a C. Miller in upstate NY probably prior to the Civil War and is set up with a Loosey&Lull barrel fitted for a false muzzle. (Unfortunately the false muzzle has been lost in time....)

The SST on a CZ527 in .223 Rem is the only one I own. I only set it if I am thinking about it before I make the shot.
