Anyone see the Numrich/Gun Parts Corporation ad in the October 1, 2008 Shotgun News, page 62, for Model 15 stainless steel barrels? The ad "explains" that the Model 60 was not the first all-stainless revolver S&W ever sold.

The ad goes on to state that a limited run of polished stainless Model 15s were ordered for a law enforcement distributor in Chicago.

Anyone remember any further details on this? I seem to remember articles in the S&WCA Journals about oddities like earlier stainless guns than the Model 60s and airweight N frames and so forth. SmithNut or anyone else have more information on this one?

The price is $75.00 for the Model 15 stainless barrels. The same ad lists .45 Scholfield Model 3, 7 inch Performance Center barrels for $99.50.

"20 Model 15s made in stainless steel as experimental products to show durability of stainless steel handguns in the early part of 1960 in a serial number range from approximately K397810-K397830. Only six of these are known to have been shipped: #21 to Karl Henstrom in 1960..."
