I posted this on another forum and wondered what your opinions were on the shape of the bullet in the 9BPLE round. The jacket looks like it didn't get turned in for some reason but protrudes a bit over the lead core. Some older 9BP rounds I have seem to have the same bullet but it doesn't look like the current 9BPLE bullet. It looks almost like a final step was left out in the manufacturing of the bullet on the 9BPLE.

Interesting comparison... Have you gotten more than one box of these bulletts to see if photo one is a consistent....If it is not then I would suspose that the bullett did not get finished properly at the factory...seems this could cause some FTF...to me it does not look correct

I only ordered one box to see how they would function and if good to go, I'd order some more. I wrote Federal about it but the had a hard time opening the attachment so, I sent it another way and was told... "The one bullet does not look normal and should have a more rounded
hollow point. You should have no issues in shooting this ammunition."

Does that make sense? If it doesn't look normal how can you not have issues? Perhaps he meant the 9BPLE didn't look normal but the other one did and IT shouldn't cause problems. I sent them the same two pictures I showed here. I wrote them back again after that statement but haven't heard from them yet. Others have said they've ordered this ammo and theirs look just like mine. So, it's not an isolated case. I've never seen a hollow point with the jacket not flush or rolled over before and I think somethings awry.

They are saying: "Our QC/QA failed as far as the finishing steps, but it won't affect functional reliability". It will shoot and function just fine. No worries.

That being the case, there's a lot of them out there. I know of others that told me their samples looked just like mine.
