Here's another item I'd like to give my review of. Another item I mentioned out on a couple of The Other Sites that was poo-poo'd because of both the manufacturer, and the "1st gen" thing. I was told I wasted my money. I think not. Here it is:

ATN Aries MK 350 NVWSM35010 - Night Vision Riflescope - ATN Night Vision Equipment

My price, $404.99 from SG with member discount and free shipping. Saved a few bucks over normal. Comes with it's own infra-red light, not needed with any kind of moon light or other, even dim light source (street lights, porch lights, starlight etc.) But on complete blackouts, works beautifully.

1st the bad: As stated in other reviews, this thing is heavy. Almost half as much as my 6920 with the IR mounted to the scope. Gonna need a pod of some sort to rest the gun on. I just use a mono-stick, bi-pod would probably be better though. Or you gotta be built like the hulk or ANY Marine, LOL. Also, it can be a little tedious to get it adjusted to your specifc eyeballs. I finally got it clear after fiddling with it for about 20 mins, but once there it hasn't budged. Some other reviews stated it had a "fish-eye" effect, I sorta think there is a slight one, maybe. But doesn't really bother me. I may not have noticed if I wasn't looking for it. Also, this is 2.5X fixed, I wish I had gotten the 390 which is 4X but I have a friend that works in a camera shop and he says that since this has a camera/camcorder adapter ($69), theoretically I should be able to put a 2X on it to double it to 5X total. He's checking on it.

The good: It works pretty damn good. If you're sneaking up on me at night, you better not be relying strictly on the cover of darkness. One coyote and 3 racoons are now in varmit heaven. All of them one shot and out, somewhere between 50-100 yards. Hard to judge exactly at night, never felt like going back in the day to measure. But definitely less than a hundred. I would say 200 would be max for this thing (and probably pushing it) with any sort of consistency. That's plenty I'm thinking though. Unless that is, I can get the magnification doubled.

Both the IR and Scope use CR123 batteries, can't say how long yet they might last, but WallyWorld has them for about $5 in pairs. So not real expensive to replace.

Here's something I hate to admit, but I will so any ladies here please forgive me.:o

I was testing it in my neighborhood, just looking around and saw a bit of movement at a house not far away. Seemed one of my neighbor-etts was walking around her bedroom in the dark, and I couldn't tell if she had anything on or not. Welllll, had to find out didn't I? :) I finally (couple of mins max) decided she did have something on, but not much, LOL. I've resisted the temptation to do more "testing", partially because it's not the right thing, but mainly because if the ol' lady catches me, this old horndog will become an old Eunuch.

Maybe I shared too much?

Anyhoo, I think I got a good accessory and wanted to share that.

Yeah I wouldnt do that, the neighbors might not look at it as testing. All of my neighbors are over 75 so I wouldnt have that problem. But it sure sounds interesting, especially where I call yotes'.

Does that optic work night only, or is there day mode? Im guessing night only, in which case, did u set up with QD mounts?

It'd be nice to see what's wondering around here at night... I think it's a big tan cat...
