A Georgia sheepdog named Casper fought off a pack of coyotes to save his herd of sheep. Casper was seriously wounded but survived. This is the definition of Good Boy.

I'm real glad someone set the record straight. Pyrs don't do one darn bit of herding. What they do is devote their lives to guarding/protecting their charges, be they animal or human.

We are keeping daughter's Great Pyr. She got the dog as a rescue. She can't have a dog over 100lbs right now.
That mutt has never looked at me with anything other than complete adoration. Big dog with a very big bark. They are VERY quirky though.

It is wonderful how dogs get with those people and animals that they welcome as their own and even the biggest and toughest dogs become as gentle and protective as can be.

My friend has a farm with maybe 10-15 cows and one bull. He had a donkey that would protect the calves for about 20 years until it recently passed. But he'd get a kill at least weekly, and one time he had a coyote in his mouth and two dead ones mashed into the mud. (It could've been a mule; I don't know the difference). They do not like coyotes at all. Joe said it was the best guard dog he ever had!

He was thrown out of a car window when he was a puppy. My son stopped , picked him up & gave him to me.

He has run the majority coyotes off the farm.

Good for the dog. Saw on the news a yote trying to drag off a small child by the foot. Caught on a camera on the house. Luckily the girl's father was right there and rescued her.

We have coyotes all around. there's a guy a little ways from me that has some sheep. He also has a llama. He has no problems with coyotes.
