Shelf life of primers

I happened upon a pawn shop that had an odd assortment of gun stuff from the days when it was a gun dealer. One of the things they had on the top of a far back shelf was boxes of Winchester 209 shotgun primers. My guess is that these things are about 8-12 years old given the box. I was able to get them for a pretty good price however. $20/1000.

So, I'm now wondering if these things could degrade over time. Will these primers be as good as new ones?

As long as they have been stored in the dry, they will live longer than you will.

I am using some CCI small rifle primers that were made in the 1960s. As long as they've been kept dry all their life, no problem.

Kept indoors, those 209s will be good enough for your grandchildren to load.
