The thread about a favorite bar got me to thinking. Maybe 8 years ago I was in Sheridan and saw King's Saddelry and Museum and the Sheridan Hotel. While we were walking around a local told us a place we should see. As I remember it was a bar and the furnishings inside was made out of tree limbs and bent poles. It was very unique and fascinating. Does anyone know the name of the place. Larry

Would that be the Mint Bar?

I believe Iggy is correct - that is the Mint Bar. Other favorites include the famous (or infamous, depending on your point of view) Silver Dollar Bar in Cody, WY, the Buckhorn Bar in Laramie, WY and the Double Shot Bar in Rock River, WY. Iggy, I assume you know all these places?

Been in all of them at one time or the other............even Dotsy's in Rock Springs.

Hey Iggy do you remember a couple friends of mine from Rock Springs.........Ed Cantrell and Walt Long the game warden???????

Dave

This thread got me to thinking about several other watering holes.

Anyone ever been in The Gold Nugget Saloon in Hanna??

How about the bar in the Virginian Hotel in Medicene Bow??

Or the Miners Social Club in Hanna?

The Golden Spike in Rawlins??? They used to have the best pizza in the state.

There was a little bar/saloon in Jackson that used to get a little rowdy...I can't remeber the name but it was just off the town square near the city park.

The motel & bar in Gillette on the corner of hwy 289 and the east/west highway that went to Wyodak.

Damn that was along time and many many miles ago.

Dotsy's & Fergy's Oh Yeh, I remember them. Had to go help rescue the GR PD in a squabble in Fergys.

I had dealings with both Ed Cantrell and "Whisperin' Max Long.
I can tell you stories about both of them, but I won't.

Wyo,
Nah, I only been to prayer meetin's in most of those towns.............

YUP!

YUP! Got a meeting with wind developers next week.
Had a few brews in the Diplodocus Bar too.
Or the Miners Social Club in Hanna?
Nope.

Many times.

Was it the Silver Dollar? Had a few beers with Harrison Ford in that one.

Nope.

When I was a kid, we would finish up a cattle drive to pastures near Chugwater at the Texaco gas station/sheriff's office. There is no bar allowed in Chug, so my Grand Dad would go next door to the drug store and buy a six pack of beer or too. We would sit around the grease pit in the station and have a beer.

The Gas station owner/Deputy thought nothin' of a kid drinkin' a beer in the company of his dad and other family members to cut the dust of a 3 day cattle drive.

Damn that was along time and many many miles ago.

Yup and times have changed, that's for sure.

I spent a couple of weeks driving around Wy. Watched a couple of days of slack at Cheyenne, a couple of days at Cody in the museum, saw Old Faithful, went horseback riding at Jackson Hole and Cody. Shot skeet and sporting clays at Cody, Cheyenne, and Jackson Hole. Saw several local rodeos at night. I probably missed a lot of trouble by not finding all the bars you'll have mentioned, but then again I might have missed a lot of fun. Thanks for naming the bar for me. I enjoyed the whole state of Wy. and met a lot of nice people. Larry

I was just at King's in Sheridan last week, the Mint Bar is just across the street.

A little bar in Rozet, just east of Gillette where the girls are pretty...

If it's still there, Trixie's in Ovando, MT

So much fun to be had and so little time to get it in...

Su Amigo,
Dave

Remember the Mine Shaft in Gillette, the Plains Hotel in Douglas, and the Silver Dollar Club in Rock Springs. Spent considerable time in all 3 around 1980-81.
