Kudos to the USPS in rural Wyo.

Two months ago our letter carrier was robbed at gunpoint. All they demanded were his postal keys. He was shaken and took a few days off to decompress and then went back to work.

There had been a rash of these same targeted robberies until two weeks ago. The cops caught a break when someone they arrested on a non related charge stuffed a postal key down in the seat of a cruiser while being transported. The key was discovered after shift change, the thief was pressured by the cops and he coughed up his four partners. They all received new jumpsuits and flip flops.

All letter carriers in the affected areas are much relieved.

Uncle Sam takes crimes against federal employees very seriously. Those lowlifes are going to regret what they did...

Don't get me wrong, I am all for Rural Carriers.

However, this does not make any sense.

Example: Three Forks, WY has a Post Office, see photo. So do some of the other towns.

When I lived in rural area 3 years ago I had a postal box and UPS & FedEx delivered to the post office.

Plus, why would 1 carrier cover such a distance? When half could be covered from Rawlins and half from Lander?

Hadn't heard the name Bairoil in years. Shot an antelope there 40 years ago, then had coffee with the town cop. Still have the cap and patch he gave me somewhere. At the time the only permanent building in town was a brick town hall with an a ornate antique pool table in the basement. Lady who ran a bar/cafe out of a doublewide was also the JP. Good times.
