Just bought my wife a Shield 2.0 in 40; she's got arthritis progressing slowly in her fingers and palms and is having trouble with her J-frame causing pain during trigger squeeze. Her 357 is too big for easy concealment. I took her shooting with my 45 Shield and she was so relieved she nearly cried! Her accuracy is back, and she says the recoil doesn't hurt at all because of the grip.

The 40 should be in next week; she'll get her choice of the 45 or 40, and I'll take the leftover. $397 new, sales tax, free shipping, and $25 to my FFL.

If you have your health, you have the world.

What's better than that? The Shields have way less felt recoil than the laws of physics say they should. As much as they're not much to look at, the plastic guns do make good shooting tools.

Ain't that the truth. I ended up in the hospital in April with pneumonia. When I got out, I had the strength & stamina of a wet noodle. Still not all the way back.

Very good that she found something that works for her.

Thanks. Made that exact point to the doctors squabbling over who got first dibs. After surgery, got the breathing back to normal after a couple of weeks. The rest is taking longer. I did learn one thing. I've always thought that if you really, truly need a cane, the vast majority of the stick fighting stuff isn't gonna work. I found out that about the best you can hope for is to get your back against a wall and (try to) block stuff till help arrives.
