I bought a Shield 2.0 with the built in laser. I bought it thinking I might upgrade frm my Colt Pocketlite 380 to the 9 mm. I like the compact profile and finally found a holster that works.

Question is, is it normal to carry this with the safety off, ala Glock? The safety on it is so low in profile that I would be concerned about the ability to disengage it in a stress situation.

Most people carry striker fired pistols without any safety, and if it has one with the safety off. Theoretically the longer trigger pull and trigger safety prevent accidents (Sig P320s notwithstanding). My Shield + doesn't even have a thumb safety.

That really is a personal choice only you can make. But if you do carry with the safety on, you must faithfully train taking the safety off as part of your draw.

Also, if you decide to carry with the safety off, make sure the pistol has proven to you the safety never inadvertently activates while in your holster. If that’s an issue, you’ll still need to train to swipe the safety on draw or get a different carry gun.
