Can anything effective be done about the 45 Shield unmarked 2.0 trigger. I mean it seems to be different length of engagement many times per magazine. It feels "not too bad" while dry fire, but with live ammo on paper, many rounds fired print like a surprise in every box. S&W has informed me that the much celebrated Apex won't help much at all. On the other hand, not the left but the right, my K Frames and N frames are so much more predictable and rewarding but they just don't ride as well IWB.

Fine Adjustments

Is seems the angled caming surface of the striker plunger safety bar is rough. I am carefully stoning smoother and helps some. If I could get the back sight to move I might cut a coil or two off the plunger spring. Also the trigger appears to bend under resistance before it ultimately breaks free. I don't like the idea of putting more precious money into something that should have been done right the first time.

When I got my 1.0 9mm Shield the trigger pull varied horribly. When I went to remove the trigger assembly to install an Apex kit I found that the trigger window in the frame was grossly undersized. The trigger itself was being pinched by the frame and causing variable drag on the trigger sides, A few minutes with a small file had the frame window opened up so the trigger was free. Probably did more for a consistent trigger pull than the Apex kit.

1.0 vs 2.0

I am wondering about the difference of 1.0 to 2.0. My trigger let off has been feeling like tying two elongated party balloons into a knot. I started with light stoning of the striker-sear mating surface to some improvement. I see the striker plunger safety has a sharp circumferential edge around it. I am suspicious if the striker itself might move vertically with the sear before releasing. I am thinking about throwing it into the dumpster and carrying my Walther PPK, but I cant find 230g bullets in .356 cal.

On a couple of M&P's I have found the striker safety hole in the slide to have some burrs and sharp edges which you might be feeling also as the trigger bar pushes upwards on the safety. Unfortunately that does require moving your rear sight enough to get the striker safety parts removed.

lab results

I just weighed my trigger let off with a cheap scale pushing the gun down over a bent rod ( informal diagnosis ). 5.5 lbs 2 of 3 and 5.75 lbs 1 of 3. Looks good. With out the striker cocked it was 2.5 lbs to just move the trigger bar enough to defeat the plunger safety. I don't see how an Apex system will improve things much. I suspect stoning and smoothing mating parts to be the best approach. Thanks for the responses and input.
